Cianda Estate is a coffee and tea growing farm, located in Kiambu County in the prime coffee growing area of the Eastern slopes of the Aberdares Mountain range (Latitude: -1°7'59.99" Longitude: 36°46'0.01"). The first coffee trees were planted on Cianda in 1928, and today there is more than 70 hectares of the 100-hectare farm that is planted with coffee trees.

During harvest, pickers select the red cherry and deliver it to the wet mill immediately after picking. Again at the wet mill, cherry sorting is carried out, before the coffee is pulped. During pulping, water is collected from a nearby river that is recirculated, and wastewater is stored in soaking pits. A dry fermentation is carried out before parchment undergoes primary grading to separate the heavy and light coffee beans, and the coffee is then soaked in clean water for 8 hours or more. Coffee is dried on raised African beds. Then, the dried parchment is delivered to our partnering mill, Kahawa Bora Millers in Thika, before the coffee is sold either directly to an overseas buyer or through the Nairobi Coffee Exchange.
